Figure 8 Cord Management Quick Tip

I can get really crazy when it comes to messy cords.  I see a box of mangled cords and I’m on a mission to get them wound up and under control…I’m all about the cord management!  One of my favorite products for controlling cords are Velcro strips.  I even did a video about these Velcro strips awhile back. These strips are great but what do you do if you don’t have any? Well, don’t fear. There is an easy and free way to control your cords.  It’s called a Figure 8…well, that’s what I call it.  Check it out in the video below to see how easy it is to do…I bet you’ll end up winding all your cords up after seeing this!

A great way to organize those cords are to use Velcro Strips/fasteners. You attach them to each cord, wind up the cord, then wrap the velcro around it. Here’s a video I did on theses strips. There are also plastic tubing or cable wraps that you can use to feed several cords together. Another thing you can do to keep the cords in place and out of sight is to attach velcro to the underside or back of your desk, attach velcro to the cords, then stick them together so they aren’t hanging aimlessly from your components. One more piece of advice…on each cord near where you plug them in, label each one with a small piece of tape or label tape of what the cord goes to (tv, dvd, laptop, lamp, printer, phone, etc.)…and take a picture too of the backside of each component so that if you have to disconnect something, you’ll know how to reconnect. Trust me on this one!!!!
