When I see an awesome program, piece of equipment, or technique, I love to pass it on. That said, I talk a lot about how to cut down on paper clutter…because it’s something we all have to deal with and it’s one of the first things people need help with when trying to get organized. One of my secret weapons (along with online bill paying and Evernote) is the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner. This amazing little scanner paired with my Evernote account has made all the difference in the world when it comes to storing and managing my files. I have literally cut my paper files in half and no longer keep hard copies of petty receipts, bills or business cards. I even use it to scan warranties, photos, kids artwork, articles, paper memorabilia, brochures, takeout menus and magazine photos. What’s so great about the ScanSnap is that it allows me to quickly scan these different documents and electronically store them on computer or upload them to my Evernote account. And of course, having electronic copies eliminates the need to file hard copies, saving precious space. It also saves me the time and energy of having to file and purge these documents, plus allows me to keep electronic copies for as long as I want until I decide to delete them.
So, what’s so special about this particular scanner? Well, unlike traditional scanners that are big, tedious to use and are soooo…soooo…sloooooooow, the ScanSnap literally scans your docs in a snap! I’m talking, plug it into your USB port, load your docs and push one button. That’s it! In just seconds your documents are scanned and imported to your computer. That’s not all…here are some other great features of the ScanSnap:
Scans up to 10 documents, front and back at the same time (8 docs in 1 minute)
Scans in color
Correctly orients documents even if they’ve been loaded into the feeder the wrong way! Yep…even if I put the doc in upside down, it saves your document right side up! That’s some kinda magic!
Scans different sized documents together
Powered by either USB or AC power
Some models are portable (well, portable enough to put in a backpack/carry-on for business trips, etc)
Compatible with both PC and Mac
Perfectly complements Evernote (my opinion) and makes document storage a snap (I couldn’t help myself…he-he)!
If you have an iPhone and Evernote, ScanSnap can send the scan directly to Evernote. Evernote, in turn, can automatically sync to your Evernote iPhone app…giving you access to your docs pretty much anytime and anywhere
For a better idea on how ScanSnap works, check out these videos that illustrate these above features and a few more:
- ScanSnap: ScanSnap video (a 3+ minute video, but WOW what an overview)
- ScanSnap and Evernote: ScanSnap-Evernote (a quicky video…like 45 seconds)
I can’t emphasize enough how much the ScanSnap scanner has impacted my life. What an awesome, game-changing tool. Paired with Evernote and my iPhone, I honestly can’t think of any other technological team in my arsenal that has had such a powerful, positive impact on my business and personal life. Watch the videos, do some research, and decide if it’s time for you to take control and organize your paper clutter.
ScanSnap scanners are available in the Get Simplifized! Store. If you can find a better deal, buy it!

You’re welcome. And I’m telling you…if you haven’t looked into Evernote yet you should give that a try too. It’s a perfect pairing with ScanSnap. It’s free has a lot of other uses.
