Father’s Day is just around the corner…which if you’re married with kids it’s more like “Husband’s Day.” At any rate, it’s an opportunity for us to reflect on and celebrate fatherhood and parental bonds. It’s a chance to simply say “thanks” and “I love you.”
This year Father’s Day is on Sunday, the 20th of June. Yikes…that’s only 9 days away! If you haven’t gotten a gift yet and are struggling with ideas, don’t fret. You still have some time. I’ve actually put together a little list for you. Of course, as you know I’m all about cutting down on clutter and there’s no reason why that concept can’t extend into gift giving. So, here are 20 clutter-free Father’s Day gift ideas for you:
- Take him to his favorite restaurant.
- Make his favorite home-made dinner and dessert.
- Wash and detail his car.
- Mow the lawn or do one of his other chores for a month.
- Buy a gift certificate from his favorite coffee shop.
- Get his hunting or fishing license.
- Take him to a concert.
- Get him a 30 minute or 1 hour massage.
- Order a beer or wine of the month subscription.
- Get a gift certificate to his favorite DIY store (ACE Hardware, Home Depot, Lowe’s).
- If he’s a “techie” get a gift certificate to Best Buy, Radio Shack or the Apple Store.
- Register him for a continuing education or hobby class that he’s been wanting to take (language, wood-working, gardening, cooking, wine-tasting, etc.).
- Buy him tickets to a local sporting event.
- If he’s a music fan, get a gift certificate to the iTunes store.
- For the adventurous type, sign him up for a rock-climbing class.
- If he’s a little more adventurous, take him on a hot-air balloon ride.
- If he’s even crazier, take him skydiving!
- Treat him to a round of golf.
- Create an online photo album of your favorite memories with him.
- Give him a break and let him relax. Serve him coffee and breakfast in the morning, give him some quiet time to read and watch his TV shows, treat him to lunch, give him some more “chill” time, make dinner and then watch a movie together (if he wants) and of course don’t forget to tell him how much you love him!
These are just a few clutter-free gift ideas. You can find more ideas by simply doing an internet search on “Father’s Day gift ideas.” Luckily, I have a husband who is all about clutter-free gift giving and would be perfectly happy with give idea #20, however, I just might have to surprise him with something else because he’s so terrific!
Well, how ever you spend father’s day and treat that special guy…hopefully it’s a day you will all enjoy. Have a happy Father’s Day!
