My sister-in-law and I went to an outdoor flea market and farmers’ market yesterday where we got some great deals on fresh fruits and veggies. I don’t know about you, but I love getting my fruits and veggies fresh and supporting our local farmers. As we loaded our bags full of nature’s goodies I was on the prowl for some Georgia peaches. Unfortunately, they’re not quite in season yet…that’s later in the summer and early fall…bummer. But I got to thinking, I really don’t know what the harvest dates are for fruits and veggies so I found a quick reference guide I thought I’d share it with you:
NOTE: these are just approximate dates. In the south the dates vary and many fruits and veggies are harvested a few months earlier….a nice benefit to living in the south!
So, if and when you decide to head to your local farmers’ market, before you jump in your car, ride your bikes, or (in the case of my parents) hit the road on your motorcycle, take a quick glance at this reference sheet to know what’s fresh and likely to hit your kitchen tables. Enjoy!!!
